What Makes a Good Leader?Alan Bradshaw and Professor Derek Mowbray talk about what makes a good leader?. Adaptive Leadership versus Transformational LeadershipIn this video, Alan Bradshaw discusses with Professor Derek Mowbray some of the differences between Adaptive and Transformational Leadership. Derek also looks at how these leadership styles can compliment each other. Adaptive Leadership is focused on the organisation and workforce as a whole and engages with them, delegating decision making downwards through the workforce. It uses the skills, knowledge and ability of the workforce to come up with innovative solutions to organisational problems. Through this process, Adaptive Leadership creates a strong psychological contract with the workforce, contributes to a positive work culture and prevents psychological distress. |

Social EnterpriseProfessor Derek Mowbray talks about some of the key issues concerning Social Enterprises. The many benefits of this type of organisation to both the employees and the organisation include strong staff engagement (reducing staff turnover and absenteeism), a reduction in psychological distress and an increase in wellbeing and performance. So how can MAS help? We can act as facilitators; identify the best decision making structure to put in place; define the "rules" of the organisation and the behaviours that will create commitment, engagement and trust. |
