About our approach to strengthening personal resilience
Building your resilience helps you to view your world, knowing you are in control of yourself. You can laugh at the absurdity of some of the things around you, confident in the knowledge you can rise up to and deal with any events that might directly challenge you.
Resilience is having a resilient attitude about yourself, the challenges you face and the difficult behaviours you encounter.
A resilient attitude is a strong sense of knowing you will rise up to and be determined to overcome the challenges you face.
For you to do this you need to know yourself extremely well, have confidence in yourself, and know how to work out ways to overcome different challenges.
This is where our Personal Resilience Programme comes in.
Over the past 8 years we have developed and continuously refined a programme to help you understand yourself, to be able to be in control of yourself in everything you do.
Resilience isn’t about being tough. It’s about being canny. It’s being able to ‘read’ the world around you and working out how to deal with it to your benefit, so that you feel safe, secure, happy and successful. The stronger your resilient attitude to different challenges, the more determined you are likely to be and the more likely you are to be able to rise up to and overcome them successfully.
Your ability to overcome challenges is found in knowing and understanding the values that drive you, the control you have over yourself, your interest and ability to solve problems, and techniques that you know will help in different situations.
Knowing about yourself means understanding who you are, your identity, who you’d like to be, what you want to do with your life and how you’d like other people to perceive you.
Knowing who you are means understanding what drives you, what makes you take the decisions you do, and what makes you feel comfortable and uncomfortable is different situations.
Knowing how to organise yourself in chaotic situations enables you will rise to the challenge when faced with seemingly uncontrollable events, or seemingly intractable problems that appear daunting at first.
Knowing where you stand with your friends and relationships means you can rely on them when you need them.
Knowing you can talk to anyone about anything at any time will give you confidence and help you achieve what you want in life.
A resilient attitude to life means you can achieve whatever you turn your mind to. You are in control of yourself.
Now our Personal Resilience Programme is available in elearning format to help everyone to stand up for themselves, to be canny, to know themselves inside and out, and to have the techniques to deal with various challenges.
